Value labels identify the plotted data points in a graph. You can add value labels to any scatter, line, bar, column, pie, QC, histogram, or polar graph.
Step 1
Select a graph to which you want to add value labels.
• To add value labels to specific data series, click the plot symbol or plot element in the legend or Shift-click multiple series.

Choose Value Labels from the Options menu.
Step 3
In the upper-left corner of the Value Labels dialog, select the data series to which you want to add value labels.
• To select consecutive series, select the first series in the range, then Shift-click the last series in the range.
• To select non-consecutive series, Cmd-click.
Step 4
Under Orientation, enter the number of degrees to rotate value labels, or choose a value from the Angle pop-up menu.
Step 5
Turn the Transparent Background button on or off.
• If you turn Transparent Background off, select a background color for value labels from the Color pop-up palette.
Step 6
Choose a source of value from the Source of Values pop-up menu.
• To remove value labels, choose None.
Step 7
If your source of values is a data window, select the column of data that contains the values you want to use.
Step 8
Choose a placement option for value labels from the Placement pop-up menu.
Step 9
To change the numeric format of value labels, click the Numeric Format button, specify a format in the subdialog that appears, then click OK to return to the Value Labels dialog.
Step 10
To change text attributes for value labels, click the Type Specifications button, specify options in the subdialog that appears, then click OK to return to the Value Labels dialog.
Step 11
Click Show to preview the value labels in your graph, then click OK.
